Jaipur: Supreme Court Tuesday directed prompt action against illegal coaching centres operating along Gopalpura Bypass in Jaipur and ordered Rajasthan Police to take strict legal action over alleged threats to a senior advocate representing a housing society. A bench of Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Justice R Mahadevan was informed by Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) that notices had been issued to around 134 coaching centres in the area. Of these, about 44 had been sealed, while several others had voluntarily stopped operations. JDA said around 66 centres had so far ceased functioning and action against the remaining establishments would be taken soon. During the hearing, the court was also apprised of allegations that coaching centre owner Raghuveer Singh Dagur had abused and threatened senior advocate Rajdeepak Rastogi, besides 10-B Scheme Vikas Samiti president advocate Virendra Agrawal and general secretary Gopal Kumar Agrawal. The court was told that written complaints had been submitted to the Rajasthan director general of police, chief secretary and additional chief secretary (Home), besides a complaint lodged at Shipra Path police station. Supreme Court directed Rajasthan DGP to ensure prompt and strict legal action over the allegations. The court also considered the issue of relocating coaching institutes to the coaching hub developed by Rajasthan Housing Board at a cost of around Rs 350 crore.
