Rajasthan SET 2026: Jaipur candidates boycott exam after question papers arrive 30 minutes late

Candidates appearing for the Rajasthan State Eligibility Test (SET) 2026 at an examination centre in Jaipur reportedly walked out of their halls and boycotted the test on Sunday after alleging that question papers were distributed nearly 30 minutes after the scheduled start time.

The disruption was reported at Pink City Senior Secondary School on Benar Road in Jaipur, where candidates said the examination was scheduled to begin at 11 am. However, according to candidates, the question papers reached the centre only around 11:30 am.

Candidates protest at examination centre

The delay reportedly triggered anger among candidates, several of whom left their examination halls and gathered near the main gate of the centre to protest.

According to local media sources, candidates also alleged that when they questioned officials about the delay, they were asked either to remain silent or leave the examination. The allegations, however, have not been independently verified.

The situation escalated as candidates reportedly approached the police and raised concerns over the conduct of the examination. A discussion subsequently took place between the police and the school principal.

According to candidates, the principal later showed them a notice stating that the examination had been cancelled.

Candidate alleges irregularities at centre

Speaking to ANI, candidate Sania Kaval alleged that the examination centre faced multiple issues, including the delayed arrival of question papers.

"The invigilator at my centre was an 11th-grade student," Kaval told ANI, while alleging that candidates were repeatedly asked to wait for the question paper.

She said candidates were initially told that the paper was on its way and that they would be given additional time because of the delay. However, the situation eventually led to a protest and boycott. Kaval demanded that the cancelled examination be conducted again and that the centre be changed.

Candidates question absence of prior official notice

Candidates have also claimed that no official notice announcing cancellation of the examination was displayed at the centre or communicated through official channels before the scheduled start of the test.

The allegation has raised questions over how the examination was being administered at the affected centre and whether candidates were given clear instructions regarding the status of the test.

Any decision on cancellation, re-examination or action against the centre would have to come from the examination authorities after examining the circumstances.

What is Rajasthan SET 2026?

The Rajasthan State Eligibility Test 2026 is a state-level eligibility examination conducted by the University of Kota to determine eligibility for appointment as Assistant Professors in colleges and universities across Rajasthan.

The examination is conducted in offline, OMR-based mode. It comprises two papers and follows an objective-type format. There is no negative marking in the examination.

The reported disruption in Jaipur has now put the conduct of the examination at the affected centre under scrutiny, with candidates seeking a fresh examination and action over the alleged lapses.
