Rajasthan Gets Its Longest High-Level Bridge Over Banas River

UdaipurTimes, Oct 1, 2026 - The State’s Public Works Department has constructed Rajasthan’s longest high-level bridge at Gahlod over the Banas River at a cost of Rs 134.74 crore.

Built through the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), the Gahlod High-Level Bridge has a total length of 3.34 km, comprising a 2-km main bridge and 1.34 km of approach roads. The main bridge has a load-bearing capacity of approximately 243 tonnes and consists of 50 spans, each measuring 40 metres.

Load testing of the structure was successfully completed in five stages. Structural recovery was also assessed after the load was removed. The bridge recorded 92% recovery, while recovery of 85% or above is considered satisfactory.

The new high-level bridge will ensure safe and smooth year-round connectivity for the areas of Peepalu, Malpura, Todaraisingh, Phagi and Ajmer.
