Rajasthan to showcase tourism destinations beyond Jaipur at Tourism EXPO Japan 2026

Tourism Secretary Shuchi Tyagi and Ajay Kumar Sharma, Joint Director (Marketing), Department of Tourism, Rajasthan, will represent the state at the exhibition.

Rajasthan Tourism will participate in Tourism EXPO Japan 2026 in Tokyo starting Thursday, focusing on promoting destinations and tourism activities beyond Jaipur.

Tourism Secretary Shuchi Tyagi and Ajay Kumar Sharma, Joint Director (Marketing), Department of Tourism, Rajasthan, will represent the state at the exhibition.

Tourism Commissioner Rukmani Riar said the state will showcase wildlife tourism, rural tourism, experiential travel, handicrafts, cuisine, wellness, destination weddings and MICE, along with forts, palaces and desert tourism.

Around 25,250 Japanese tourists visited Rajasthan in 2025. Jaipur has been a major destination for Japanese visitors to the state. Rajasthan Tourism will use the exhibition to promote destinations including Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Ranthambore, Bharatpur and Shekhawati.

The state will also present havelis, forts, stepwells, textiles, handicrafts and folk traditions. Rural tourism, local cuisine and traditional crafts will form part of the tourism offerings being presented to the Japanese market.

Rajasthan Tourism will engage with Japanese tour operators, travel companies, media representatives and other tourism industry stakeholders during the exhibition. The department will explore new itineraries, tourism circuits and business opportunities.

The state will also focus on experiences involving artisans, local communities, traditional cuisine and local cultural practices.

Rajasthan's participation comes in the context of India-Japan cooperation in tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges. At the 2026 India-Japan Annual Summit, the two countries reiterated their commitment to strengthening tourism and cultural exchanges.

The Rajasthan government is also working to develop new tourism destinations and strengthen tourism infrastructure. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is leading these efforts, while Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari has been focusing on Rajasthan's international tourism outreach.

Riar said expanding Rajasthan's presence in international markets and promoting destinations beyond the traditional tourism circuit are priorities for the department.
