Rajasthan to establish 600 new sub-centres with centre’s support

State Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar said the new sub-centres would be established to improve access to primary healthcare facilities near residential areas.

Rajasthan will establish 600 new sub-centres with the support of the central government to provide primary healthcare facilities within a 10-km radius, state Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar said at a meeting with chief medical and health officers of all districts on Monday.

The meeting reviewed healthcare services in rural and remote areas, human resources, availability of medicines and diagnostic facilities, and the status of seasonal diseases.

Khimsar said the new sub-centres would be established to improve access to primary healthcare facilities near residential areas.

He said appointments had been made to 50,000 posts across various cadres of the health department. Officials were directed to deploy available human resources based on local requirements, particularly at trauma centres, health facilities providing delivery services and centres in remote rural areas.

Officials were asked to prepare plans based on geographical conditions, patient load, available facilities and local requirements rather than relying only on sanctioned posts.

Khimsar also directed officials to ensure the safety of buildings housing medical institutions. The responsibility of the institution head for building safety will be fixed, and a circular will be issued in this regard.

He directed that CCTV cameras be installed at all medical institutions within three months and asked the Director of Public Health to monitor the implementation.

Rathore said surplus human resources, medical equipment and medicines available at government health centres would be utilised at centres where they are required.

She said the process of allocating newly constructed buildings to health facilities would be completed soon so that services could begin there.

Rathore directed officials to regularly review the availability of medicines, diagnostic facilities and prevention measures for seasonal diseases across districts.

She also directed officials to ensure that health centres open on time and that doctors and other health staff are available. High-risk pregnant women scheduled for delivery in October are to be monitored individually.

Officials were also directed to update information on the online reporting portal on time and monitor departmental activities. They were asked to accelerate implementation of the TB-free India campaign and HPV vaccination programme.

Director of Public Health Ravi Prakash Sharma, Additional Mission Director T. Shubhamangala, Director RCH Madhu Rateshwar and other officials attended the meeting.

Principal Secretary, Medical and Health, Gayatri Rathore said the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences had completed recruitment and appointments for 1,699 medical officers.
