Rajasthan govt signs MoU for Kishau Dam Project to strengthen water supply

The MoU was signed under the chairmanship of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. Union Minister of Jal Shakti CR Patil and the chief ministers of the six states signed the agreement.

The governments of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the Kishau Multipurpose Dam Project in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The MoU was signed under the chairmanship of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. Union Minister of Jal Shakti CR Patil and the chief ministers of the six states signed the agreement.

The project is aimed at providing water for irrigation, drinking water and other essential requirements in the six states, including Rajasthan.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said the agreement was based on cooperation among the states. He said several water-related projects, including the Yamuna Water Agreement, Ramjal Setu Link Project, Narmada Water Agreement and Kishau Dam Project, have been taken up for Rajasthan.

Sharma said the water agreements would support water security and the development of the states.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu attended the meeting along with ministers and officials from the concerned states.
