School timings in Rajasthan will not change from 1 October this year. In view of the heat in the state, teachers' organisations had demanded that school timings not be changed for the time being. Accepting the demand, the government has now ordered that school timings be changed from 16 October. However, hospital timings in the state will change from 1 October.

Last year, school timings were changed from 1 October. Before that, timings were changed from 16 October in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

In an order issued on Wednesday, the Directorate of Secondary Education said that the existing schedule would remain in force in schools until 15 October. Accordingly, single-shift schools will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

According to the government's order dated 31 March 2026, the change in school timings was proposed from 1 October. However, revised instructions have now been issued, deciding that the change will take effect from 16 October.

Temperatures Cross 40 Degrees

Temperatures are rising in most districts of the state. In some districts of western Rajasthan, the mercury has crossed 40 degrees Celsius. Temperatures were above 35 degrees Celsius in Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Churu. Temperatures have fallen after the rain in recent days. Meanwhile, Phalodi recorded a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Barmer and Jaisalmer were the hottest cities on Tuesday, recording a daytime temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius.
