Rajasthan Moves Toward Providing Healthcare Facilities Every 10 Kms

Rajasthan Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar discusses availability of healthcare services in rural and remote areas

UdaipurTimes, Sept 29, 2026 - Rajasthan Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar held a review meeting with the of all districts at the Health Bhawan, Jaipur, on Monday, September 28. The Minister discussed the availability of healthcare services in rural and remote areas, human resources, medicines and diagnostic facilities, as well as the situation regarding seasonal diseases.

Health Minister Khinvsar said the government’s aim is to ensure that residents have easy access to primary healthcare facilities.

Key Decisions:

- 600 new sub-centres to be established; to provide a sub-centre facility every 10 kilometres.

- Healthcare services to be strengthened following appointments to 50,000 posts across various cadres of the department.

- Available human resources to be utilised effectively in areas where most needed.

- Resources available in any area to not be utilised solely on the basis of sanctioned posts, but according to the actual requirements of the area.

- Effective management of human resources taking into account the local conditions of rural and remote areas.

- To ensure availability of doctors and trained nursing staff at trauma centres, health centres providing delivery services to remote rural areas.

- Action plans to be prepared after studying geographical conditions, patient load, available facilities and local needs.

- Responsibility for buildings housing medical institutions safety to be assigned to the heads of the respective institutions; a circular to be issued in this regard.

- Installation of CCTV cameras in all medical institutions within three months.

Meanwhile, Principal Secretary, Medical and Health Department, Gayatri Rathore informed that RUHS has completed the recruitment and appointments of 1,699 Medical Officers. Online applications are currently being accepted for 600 Medical Officer posts until October 13. An examination for these posts will be conducted in December.
