3,857 MD, MS, DM, MCh seats in Rajasthan: NMC seat matrix 2026-27
Jaipur: A total of 3,857 postgraduate and super-speciality medical seats are available in Rajasthan for the academic year 2026-27, according to the latest seat matrix released by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The seat matrix includes postgraduate MD and MS courses, along with Doctorate of Medicine (DM), Master of Chirurgiae (MCh), and diploma courses across government and private medical colleges and deemed universities in the state.
As per the list, M.D. General Medicine has the highest number of seats at 373, followed by M.D. Anaesthesiology with 364 seats. M.S. General Surgery has 303 seats, while M.S. Obstetrics and Gynaecology has 291 seats.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the NMC released a seat matrix showing a total of 63,177 MD, MS, Diploma, DM and MCh medical seats for the academic year 2026-27. However, the Apex Medical Commission has clarified that the seat matrix does not include seats related to applications received for an increase in the intake of existing PG courses or for the commencement of new PG courses for the academic year 2026-27.
A detailed course-wise breakdown of the seats in Rajasthan shows that M.S. General Surgery has 303 seats, M.S. Obstetrics and Gynaecology has 291 seats, M.D. Paediatrics has 251 seats, M.D. Pathology has 202 seats, M.S. Orthopaedics has 210 seats, M.D. Radio-Diagnosis/Radiology has 181 seats, M.S. Ophthalmology has 120 seats and M.D. Respiratory Medicine/Tuberculosis & Respiratory Diseases with 114 seats,
The state has 303 M.S. General Surgery seats, 291 M.S. Obstetrics and Gynaecology seats, 210 M.S. Orthopaedics seats, 120 M.S. Ophthalmology seats and 106 M.S. Otorhinolaryngology/ENT seats.
Among the M.D. courses, Rajasthan has 109 Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy/Dermatology seats, 98 Community Medicine/Social & Preventive Medicine seats, 96 Microbiology seats, 92 BioChemistry seats, 91 Psychiatry seats, 87 Anatomy seats, 76 Physiology seats, 72 Pharmacology seats and 66 Forensic Medicine and Toxicology/Forensic Medicine seats.
The state also has 55 M.D. Radiation Oncology/Radiotherapy seats, 36 M.D. Emergency Medicine seats, 35 M.D. Immuno Haematology and Blood Transfusion seats, 35 D.M. Medical Gastroenterology seats, and 28 D.M. Nephrology seats.
In Super-Specialty seats, D.M. Cardiology has 51 seats, D.M. Neurology has 40 seats, D.M. Medical Gastroenterology has 35 seats, D.M. Nephrology has 28 seats, while D.M. Medical Oncology has 14 seats and D.M. Neonatology has 7 seats.
Meanwhile, M.Ch. Urology has 46 seats, M.Ch. Neurosurgery has 41 seats, M.Ch. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery has 18 seats, M.Ch. Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery has 15 seats, while M.Ch. Paediatric Surgery and M.Ch. Surgical Oncology have 14 seats each.
Other super-specialty courses include M.Ch. Surgical Gastroenterology with 11 seats, M.Ch. Reproductive Medicine and Surgery with 5 seats, M.Ch. Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery with 1 seat and D.M. Hepatology with 1 seat.
The matrix also shows no seats for D.M. Pulmonary Medicine in Rajasthan.
