Rajasthan Board of Revenue targets 60,000-case pendency, 30,000 completed cases to be sent to benches
Chief Secretary V Srinivas calls for monthly disposal of 1,250 cases, greater technology use and regular sittings of revenue courts
Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas on Thursday directed the Board of Revenue to reduce its pending cases from around 80,000 to 60,000 and ensure that at least 30,000 completed cases are sent to benches as part of measures to improve the efficiency of revenue courts.
Addressing the Board of Revenue at Ajmer on “Improving Justice Delivery Systems in Revenue Courts of Rajasthan”, Srinivas called for a structured approach to reduce pendency through timely disposal, greater use of technology and stronger supervisory oversight.
According to the official press release, he directed the Registry to ensure that at least 30,000 completed cases are sent to the benches and called for focused campaigns for service of summons.
He said the Board should aim to dispose of 1,250 cases a month, with disposal consistently exceeding the number of new cases received.
Srinivas stressed punctuality, discipline and regular court sittings. He said SDO courts should hold regular sittings from Monday to Wednesday and ensure that cases progress when cause lists are issued. He also called for timely judgement writing and recording of evidence when witnesses appear before courts.
He said justice delivery should be accompanied by timely updating of land records, stronger supervisory oversight, faster decision-making, technology adoption and continuous capacity building.
Srinivas also referred to digital access to judgements and decrees, online case status, SMS facilities for advocates, the Revenue Court Management System mobile application and online monitoring of revenue courts.
He called for regular inspections of subordinate revenue courts, particularly SDO courts with more than 750 pending cases and urban subdivisions, with a focus on infrastructure and land-record updation.
