Jaipur: Host Rajasthanâs Saanvi Agarwal, Swaraj Taksali, Lakshyaraj Singh and Tapeshwar Poonia entered the second round of the qualifying matches of the All India Sub-Junior (U-15 and U-17) Ranking Badminton tournament which started at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium here on Thursday.

In the U-17 girlsâ singles, Saanvi Agarwal defeated Delhiâs Devanshi 15-11, 15-11, Swara Taksali downed Haryanaâs Saanvi 15-13, 15-9.

Utkarsh Singh Rathore ousted Delhiâs Parth Singh 15-11, 15-6, while Arya Pratap Taksak got the better of Haryanaâs Kartik Saini 15-5, 15-7 in the U-15 boysâ group.

In the U-17 boysâ singles, Sairaj Nayse of Maharashtra registered an easy 15-6, 15-12 win over Ekaaksha Bhattacharya of Assam.

In the U-15 boys category, Lakshyaraj Singh Nathawat of Rajasthan thrashed Ahsan Agarwal of Haryana 15-11, 15-5, Aditya Narayan dismissed Rivesh Jone of Kerala 15-11, 10-15, 18-16 in a close contest, Burhanuddin Hasan thumped Dhruv of Delhi 15-9, 15-11, while Siddharth Raj overpowered Ruthviz of Telangana 15-13, 15-12 to enter the second round.

In the U-17 boys section, Tapeshwar Poonia rallied back to edge past Devesh Guniyal of Uttarakhand 10-15, 17-15, 15-11 in a thrilling encounter.

In the U-17 girls category, Sakshi Singh edged out Delhiâs Bhavika Jaiswal 15-12, 10-15, 15-8.

In the U-15 singles, Mahi Saini received a walkover against Sanidhi Shekhar of Karnataka. In the U-17 boys category, Satvik Agarwal accounted for Om Arya of Kerala 15-7, 15-6, while Tejeshwar Poonia prevailed over Aryan of Goa 15-8, 15-6.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, president of the Rajasthan Badminton Association (RBA) and Union minister of Culture and Tourism.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, state sports minister, presided over the inaugural ceremony.

KK Sharma, RBA secretary, introduced the chief guests to the players.

Chief guest Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore inaugurated the tournament by playing a badminton rally. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat encouraged the participants, and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore praised the dedication of the players and their parents.

Guests were welcomed by RBA secretary KK Sharma, Jaipur District Badminton Association secretary Manoj Dasot, JDBA treasurer Atul Gupta, Vineet Sharma, Ritu Lohiya, Zakir Hussain, Lokesh Soni, Hariom Purohit, Rajesh Kamal and Rajiv Mehta of the Badminton Association of India, Habib Rahman, and other dignitaries.
